Government of Alberta Climate Change Panel
The Government of Alberta recently formed a climate change panel with a mandate to develop a framework for Premier Notley to present at the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris in 2015 regarding our province’s contribution to greenhouse gas emissions.
The new climate change panel looked to AWC, along with our industry partners, to provide an overview of the cropping sector that will be used to build the agriculture piece within this framework. We summarized the extent of greenhouse gas (GHGs) emissions that agriculture produces, while showcasing the advancements that farmers have made to continue to reduce and sequester GHGs over the years. We look forward to working with the Government of Alberta on this issue and will continue to advocate for farmers on climate change issues as our government progresses toward potential updated policies.
