New members named to the Board of Directors and regional representatives for Alberta Wheat Commission

(Calgary, Alberta) November 2, 2017 – The Alberta Wheat Commission (AWC) will be welcoming new farmers to the Board of Directors and Regional Representative positions in the New Year.  Following a call for nominations for two Directors and three Regional Representatives in both Regions 2 and 4, the following positions have been filled by acclamation.

AWC is pleased to announce that Hannah Konschuh of Cluny and Justin Bell of Rosebud, were acclaimed as directors in Region 2 while Todd Hames of Marwayne, and John Wozniak of St. Paul were acclaimed in Region 4.  Konschuh, Bell and Hames are newly elected directors and Wozniak was re-elected for a second term.

In addition, in Region 4, AWC will be welcoming new Regional Representatives Bernie Klammer of Vegreville and Jeffrey Pasemko of Redwater, while Kendall Freed of Vegreville will be returning for a second term as Rep.

During the Region 2 meeting, held at the Acme Memorial Centre on November 15th, AWC will be seeking nominations from the floor for the three Rep positions available. Any producer in Region 2, who has sold wheat in the past three years, is eligible to become a Rep.

“It is great to see some new faces on our Board and at the Regional Rep level to provide a new perspective when tackling issues affecting farmers’ bottom lines,” said Kevin Auch, AWC Chair.

The newly elected directors take position following the Annual General Meeting on January 31, 2018 at FarmTech. All Directors and Reps serve three year terms.

AWC will be saying goodbye to three directors at the upcoming AGM including Board Chair Kevin Auch of Carmangay, director Greg Porozni of Mundare and director Gerry Good of Carstairs.   Auch and Porozni were both members of the founding board of AWC.

Elections for Directors and Regional Representatives are held each fall. In 2018, nominations will be open for Region 3 and Director-at-Large positions. Growers interested in joining the AWC Board can speak to a Director in those Regions to learn more about the nomination process.  For more information about AWC and the role of Directors and Reps, and to see a map of our Regions, please visit
