AWC Summer Intern Anne Tran: Beginning my journey with AWC
My name is Anne Tran, and I am the research and producer engagement intern at Alberta Wheat Commission (AWC) this summer. I am currently an undergraduate student studying at the University of Manitoba, majoring in Agribusiness. Agriculture has come to me by an unexpected way since I started doing more research; reading more articles, journals about plants, soil and the agricultural industry. Agriculture actually changed my mindset in many ways, and has made me curious about the related applied science and its benefits to the community. I have a great passion in understanding agronomic studies and initiatives aimed at connecting farmers and producers to the research community.
Throughout my internship, my goals are to build sustainable knowledge about the on-going AWC-funded research projects by interacting with the researchers and efficiently delivering those applications to Alberta farmers and producers. Another goal of these four months this summer is continuing the success of the “Spotlight on Research” publication to bring the best implementing agronomic practices closer to farmers targeted at maximizing yield potential and profitability. Last year’s edition can be found here in AWC’s online research portal. Stay tuned for my exciting learning journey – you can follow me throughout the summer on twitter @annetranabwheat and here on the AWC blog. I look forward to interacting and working with all those involved in the industry.
