Alberta Wheat Commission Commends Rutter’s Work with Wheat Growers
(Calgary, Alberta) – The Alberta Wheat Commission (AWC) applauds Blair Rutter for the work he has done for the Canadian wheat industry and his contribution to farm policy, as he steps down from his position as Executive Director with the Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association (WCWGA).
"During his 10 years with the WCWGA, Rutter had a significant impact on farm policy in Western Canada," said Kent Erickson, AWC Chairman. "He has been a mentor to many young farm leaders, such as myself with his principled approach and respect for those with differing views."
Rutter started with the Wheat Growers in January 2005 and helped the Wheat Growers become a leading advocate for several policy initiatives including grain marketing freedom, trade liberalization, a less restrictive variety registration process and progress toward a more competitive and market-oriented grain transportation system.
On behalf of AWC and Alberta’s wheat growers, we would like to say thank you to Blair for his contributions to our industry, and wish him all the best in his future endeavors. We look forward to working with him as he remains active in the agricultural industry and as a Special Advisor with WCWGA until March 2016.
